I saw three entries on Rootsweb's Familty Tree Finder for "Edmond DeJean" whose date of birth fit the time frame. All three were born in St. Landry Parish.

I suggest looking up his pension file. It can be ordered through us or you can go to the Alexandria Historical & Genealogical Library in Alexandria, corner of 5th and Wshington streets. Father Hebert's book, which your local librarian is almost certainly familiar with would be another place to seek personal information on him. I saw no date of death or burial info on him at the Louisiana Confederate Soldier Burial Database so if you run across this please post it here so we can forward to the proper person, namely Wayne Cosby.

If you are interested in learning about his unit I suggest...

I bought my copy at a place called "Little Wars" in Baton Rouge. I don't have their contact info handy but directory assistance can give you their number.
