Every once in a while I stumble across a list of names of men who were from Louisiana who aren't included in Booth's Records and who seem to have lost any service records they may once have had. Yet they show up as members in Louisiana UCV camps and in the Pension Application Rolls etc. I recently looked over a post war roster of Calcasieu Parish veterans and saw a name that matches one of my ancestors from that Parish whom the family believes served, but who has no service record.

I therefore have two simple questions. One, has anybody ever made an attempt to catalog these men? Two, can anybody tell me an approximate number of men in Louisiana units whose service records were lost?
