Re: Looking for a grave
In Response To: Re: Looking for a grave ()

I hate to intrude on this posting, however, I hope someone might me able to direct my search in a good direction. My 5th-Great Grandfater was Francis M. Thaxton of the 49th Alabama Infantry - Co. E. He died in Jackson, MS on Jan. 10th, 1863. I have the actual letter from a Dr. R.N. Anderson, dated June 11th, 1863, notifying his wife of his death. The handwritten letterhead reads quote [General Hospital "Governor's Mansion", Jackson , Miss.] If in fact died inside the mansion, where might he be buried? Thank you in advance for your time, and I would be very grateful for any response. Also if you are interested in the letters I have from my Grandfather let me know, I would be happy to share the info. Thanks.
