Jean - Glad I could help. The reference book is "Texas Confederate Soldiers 1861-1865," edited by Janet Hewett and published by Broadfoot Publ. Co. in 1997. The eyewitness info on the burials came from an interview done by the WPA of former slaves in 1936-38. At the time of the battle the former slave (whose name I can't remember) was on a plantation near Mansfield. He and others were sent following the battle to recover and bury the dead. I don't have my notes for this reference here at the office, but I will locate them and post the info next week.
