Just a clarification that might avoid confusion in the future. The 31st Louisiana did not fight at the rather well known Battle of Milliken's Bend on June 7, 1863. That fight involved Texas Confederates. The listing of Milliken's Bend as one of Templeton's battles is probably a reference to a small run in the regiment had with a Yankee gunboat in August 1862, shortly after it was mustered into service. The gunboat appeared when the men were trying to unload a transport at Milliken's Bend.
