My ggrandfather,Cornelius Bradford Brooks-"C.B.")served with Wauls Texas Legion until he was captured and paroled at Vicksburg. When mustered out in June,1865,(Kirby Smith-Shreveport)he was listed as a "printer"(He apprenticed as a printer at age 10 for newspaper industry-operated several newspapers in S.C. and Texas before war)When mustered out his residence was listed as Clarksville. My question is:was there a Confederate Newspaper publishing in Shreveport or Clarksville,Texas;or,was there a Confederate Printing Office under Kirby's command in that area? He seems to have been assigned to it as his dischrge specifically noted him as a "printer".He went to Memphis and worked with B.F.C.Brooks on the Dailey Review and then Frolich in Arkansas on the White County Record. Any info appreciated.Jim S. Brooks
