Can anyone identify the medal on the blouse of the soldier in the picture at www.fortderussy.org/hutchinson.htm ? The picture is identified on a web site as Eli M. Hutchinson of the 27th Iowa, who served in the Red River Campaign. I would think that the medal is a Medal of Honor, but can find no record of Hutchinson ever being awarded that decoration. If it is not a Medal of Honor, can anyone tell me what it is?
