Craig, I am not a descendant of Jean Baptiste Bergeron.

Men were required to return to active duty after being paroled unless they had some kind of illness or disability. It is possible that Jean Baptiste Bergeron rejoined his company and served until 1865. Many members of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry and other units in the state simply went home at the end of the war and were not officially paroled. Have you checked with the Louisiana State Archives to see if he or his widow applied for a Confederate pension? If one or both of them did, those records may give you some additional information on his service.
