Our SCV camp in Lake Charles, Louisiana is named in honor of Captain James W. Bryan, who commanded Company I (Calcasieu Tigers), of Thomas' 28th Louisiana. He was the first mayor of Lake Charles after the war. He also was a state legislator and police juror, as well as a editor of the Lake Charles Echo newspaper for many years.
