I have been trying to match up name, etc., with one particular man who is listed in Co. H of the 17th Louisiana. On the records I can find online, he is listed as "C F Formby", also, "Fonby or Fornby"...the correct is Formby. What I am trying to do is match all the circumstantial evidence that this is "Columbus Franklin Formby"...would the Military Service records have the full name? I live in Maryland close enough to go to NARA if that would do it.
