Re: LA's Last Surviving Civ War Vet

Dear Sir,

I am unsure of his connection to Lecompte, LA. Except that when I was at the Lecompte High School Museum his picture was in their war veteran memorial in their war vet room and I pointed it out to him that one in this pic was my grandpa. Any other connections there he personally had I know not of. My grandmother was named Genie Ryland and she is the daughter I think of him. I am not sure how it went on that, but Scribers book made it clear he is the one who is our great grandpa. My mother has a picture now still in our family heirs photo box of him cutting his cake on his 106th birthday. I checked the blue and gray mags and no articles seem to indicate him and their word search did not reveal his name in their articles, but my cousin Patrick Savage of Texarakana Tex has one of the actual mags that showed him and 3 of the other civil war survivors who did have frequent reunions each year up until he too eventually passed away. Incidentally do you know who the last survivor of the civil war was of all the 5 left, in United States, if so I'd like to know. thanks Lloyd
