Thanks for the feedback about Hiram T. Litton. Although the Andrew Booth Compendium indicates Co. F, I can confidently share with you that Hiram T(homas) Litton and his brother James M(adison) Litton were both members of Co E (Capt. S C Furman's Co.) of Breazeale's Battalion, which became Company E of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry-CSA (2ndLC) in September of 1862. Hiram T was enlisted on July 15, 1862 by WW Breazeale and SC Furman. James M was enlisted on June 7, 1863 in Washington, LA by 1st Lt JF Scarborough. In December of 1864 both were still serving with Co. E of the 2nd LC.

If you look at Booth you will note a H F Litton in Co E and a H T Litton in Co F. These are the same men, a double entry that is not uncommon in the Booth Compendium. Hiram has 5 cards in his Confederate Service Record (NARA CSR M320), 4 indicate Hiram T and 1 indicates Hiram F - All indicate that Hiram T was in Co E commanded by Capt SC Furman. James M has 6 cards in his CSR (NARA CSR M320) and all indicate service in Co E 2ndLC. The NPS-CWSS also indicates both serving in Co E of the 2nd LC. Also, I have an 1862 and a Dec 1864 roster of Company E 2ndLC compiled by one of the Companies officers and the first (1862) contains Hiram T and the second (1864) contains Hiram T, James M Litton, and A D Litton. As a footnote, the 1864 roster has an added note that James M Litton died at home in March of 1865. The 1864 roster also contains the name of A D Litton, Hiram's and James's younger brother who enlisted in Co E 2ndLC in October 1864. If I remember correctly, A(lfred) D is listed in Booth as being in the Reserve Corps only, but I know that he was with Co E 2ndLC for 5-6 months.

In the 1850 and 1860 US Census documents, the Litton brothers lived with their parents (John T and Matilda) in Natchitoches Parish. In the 1870 to 1910 US Censuses, Hiram T Litton lived in Sabine Parish.

Hope this helps.
