Frank Offut (Offutt) 2nd LA Cav, Co. A

Wondering if anyone would have additional information on Frank Offut (or Offutt), listed as a private in Company A, 2nd LA Calvary C.S.A.

On the Envelope Jacket in roll he is listed as Frank Offutt, on the 3rd card in that jacket he is listed as F. K. Offutt. Date of enlistment was August 18, 1862, enrolled by Capt. Thompson at Opelousas. The card is from the company muster roll dated Dec. 31, 1862 to Feb. 28, 1863. His status is listed as absent, on furlough. There are only 3 cards in the envelope jacket listed.

In the 1860 Census for St. Landry Parish, on page 291 is listed the household of a William "Offatt". Included in this household is a Frank Offatt, age 21, born in LA. The 1850 Census for the same household enumarated as William Offutt, doesn't include a "Frank", nor a child that was 11 years old.

Would like to determine who his ancestors were, and how he would be related to the other Offutt's that were in St. Landry Parish. Among these other Offutt's are William J. Offutt, who is listed on the records of the 8th LA Infantr, Company F; as well as John Posey Offutt, also a member of Company F who according to my research so far was killed in action at the Battle of Gaines Mill, VA in 1862.
