Trying to get good birth confirmation date, Tim, but according to 1850 Federal Census, young Daniel was listed as 10 years old in household of Anthony Wayne Faulkner (step-father) and Louisiana Higdon Faulkner (mother). Family was living in Mississippi at that time, and moved to Caldwell Parish, LA, about 1851. If born in 1840, he would have been 24 when he died in Battle of Franklin.
