Richard:

You are awesome and most appreciated! I have seen one other reference to the company going out in literally violet coats, but can't find it again online for anything! I am fascinated by the plethora of colors in early-war uniforms and am seriously considering having a violet one drawn up. I'm a Democrat (yeah -- one of those!), with mostly arch-conservative SCV/re-enactor buddies. I already have a couple of uber-colorful early-war kits, and I have threatened, in the past, to have a violet suit made up. My compatriots have informed me that, if I show up in violet at a CS memorial service, they will either shoot me (1st choice) or leave in masse! They may just get the chance, now that you have shared this documentation! Thanks, again! -- Jim Huffman, Gainesville Vols, SCV Camp 373, Pearl River County, MS (just 57 miles north of New Orleans, so the Violet Guards have a double appeal for me!)
