21st La was formed in 1862 in Kentucky. JBG Kennedy was the Colonel. Also know as McCown Regiment.

Co A was the Bonford Guards, from Orleans Parish.

FYI - there is another 21st LA (Patton's Regiment) but it appears to have been renumbered to the 22nd Regiment.
