Re: J.R. Cavanaugh, Ninth Louisiana

Terry, I am a great grand-nephew of four Cavanaugh brothers who came to America in the 1850s from County Tyrone, Ireland. Three settled in New York, NY and fought in the 155th NYVI (two killed, one invalided out (lost right arm).

My grandfather told me the fourth brother (name unknown) emigrated to New Orleans, was captured fighting for the CSA and suffered in captivity in Ohio. This matches to some degree with J.R. Cavanaugh's service history.

Is their any way to find out more about this man from Jackson Parish?

Thanks.
