William Anderson Leatherwood

I am searching for information on William Anderson Leatherwood who was in the 17th Regiment of the Louisiana Infantry. His rank was Private.
I found him in the 1860 Census where he was an Overseer for Phillip Arthur in Claiborne Parish. I have found him in the list of U.S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861-1865. He was born in South Carolina about 1833, moved with his family to Greene County, Alabama and I am assuming that he followed 2 uncles (Hamilton) to Claiborne Parish.
Some years back I found him listed as being in a hospital in Claiborne Parish but have lost the info. and I have searched on the web but no luck. I do not know if the hospital was connected with the war.
Is there a book or books that might give a roster for the regiment or list people other than the officers?

Thank you ever so much.
