Re: Shiloh Prisoners to Ft. Douglas

Ann, your talking the 1st LA.Regular Inf.I know a little about this Reg,at Stones River.
I looked through the official records Ser.II Vol.III Prisoners of War and State. There is talk as early as Apr.10th about exchange.I don't think his wounds were bad as those Confederate prisoners in Federal Field hospitols were released Apr. 23 With negotiations begining the 17th.Him being taken to Camp Douglas might indicate his wound was not bad.The 28th more were released.I believe technically on Parole. The first exchanges were May 15 under a flag of truce at Corinth, MS.this went on till the 27th when surgeons were exchanged. All at Corinth.A note Confederate troops at Corinth retreated to Booneville around June 8-10.I have a hand drawn field map of my GGGgrandfathers Regiment at Reinzi,MS..I believe June 10th. There was a large number of Federals in Confederate hands released to Federal Forces between Huntsville ALA. and Chattanooga,TN. by Confederates saying they couldn't feed them numbering ,forgive me 1300,?May 30.Do you know when he was released from Camp Douglas?I would have to second guess his way south but, it would only be guessing.IL.Central to the Mobile and Ohio Railroad.Of course he could of came by River landing at Farmington,TN.Then overland to Corinth. I would think the Confederates destroyed the tracks between Apr.6 and May 30th when Federals moved on Corinth. The Volumn ends mid June 1862
