I am writing a novel set in New Orleans during its occupation and wonder what it would have been like for a plantation mistress with Unionist sympathies (presumably she would have been ostractised by the planter community?) and for a Confederate Creole planter? Also how would the occupation have affected daily life? Any hints gratefully received!
