Re: 73rd Regiment E. M. M.,Co. F, 1stLt M. P. Chan

Good to hear from you Bruce!

June 26, 2001, Missouri State Archives: "From Rolls in Office of XXXXXX (undeciferable)War Dept., Wash, D.C:

73rd EMM, Captain Greene "Com'd"; Marcus was enrolled Dec 12, 1862 was relieved of duty Apr 10, 1863.Your comment about 6th and 7th Provisionals is interesteing as Marcus was still 1stLt.

War Dept granted pension as Marcus applied as "Captain".

Looking to find how/where he "made" Captain! Maybe 6th or 7th (i suspect "Provisionals may have iinvolved "promotions" more likely not!)?

Also, Bald Knobbers make interesingg reading - Marcus wagon trained to Oregon in 1881!

Also, contention that three brothers (who appear in 1850 census (with Marcus!) Black River Twnship, Arkansas, may have been "rebels"! Original researcher comments "did they ever reconcile?"

By the by (also) - Marcus was a Mexican War Private in Colonel Archibald Yell's 1st Regiment Arkansas Mounted Volunteers. Col. Yell was KIA "fell gallantly" battle of Buena Vista as reported "in dispatch" to War Department by Gen. Zachary Taylor!

Thanks for info!
