Dear Alison,
I find your posting very interesting as my step-father's father, Toy Scott Herrin, was living in the household of a "Richerson" in Muskogee, OK about 1920. I'll investigate that further.
In the Broadfoot Rosters of Confederate Soldiers there is a John H. Richardson listed as a private in Company "G" of the 8th Missouri Infantry (Confederate). Also, in Company "H" there is an S.G. Richerson (could they be related?). Many times names were written and/or transcribed in error. With Richardson being the most common spelling his name was probably written as it was heard by a mustering/enrollment officer.
I'd look closely at this J.H. Richardson of the 8th Missouri. Perhaps others on the message board might have additional details.
