I was trying to respond to your posting the other night. Never read so much history of the Pacific Railroad. Apparently there was also a Lookout Station in Kansas on the Pacific Railroad, so it got very confusing.

I found the following reference to "Lookout Station":

Lookout Station, Mo.,
Aug. 20, 1861.

Missouri Militia.

A train on the Pacific railroad loaded with militia was fired into by Confederates in ambush while passing Lookout Station. The fire was returned by the men in the cars, but as no losses were reported on either side the casualties are unknown.

But this doesn't even acknowledge the loss of the two men.

You are very welcome for the message board, but you should also thank Jim McGehee, Bill Shea, Bryan Howerton and others who urged me to set it up. With the closing of the "Missouri Civil War Index" message board and the unreliable nature of the MO-SCV board. We felt like this was an appropriate time to start it up.

I'll be adding some additional features within the week to the site, including the "Ongoing Research Projects" page, the "Support our MOCWMB Authors!" page and something new, an interactive "Special Announcements" page so the reenactors and organizations can make others aware of upcoming events.

I've emailed all of your MO USGenWeb coordinators, reenactors, those who have posted to the MO-SCV, Missouri Civil War Index and Rootsweb/Ancestry.com MO CW message boards. Hopefully, we'll see this site grow and grow.

If you want to see what I have in mind for the MOCWMB, go look at the Alabama and Arkansas in the Civil War Message Boards. They are the two most active and well-developed.
