Deb: The only records I can find of your ancestor are as follows:

In Joanne Chiles Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, no pagination, shows a Private Elsbury G. Glover, a resident of Ralls Co., taken prisoner "At Home", on 18 April 1862. It indicates that he was imprisoned at Alton, IL.

Carolyn Bartels, The Forgotten Men: Missouri State Guard, page 129, has the following entry: Glover, Ellsberry G., ref. POW card dated 9 August 1863 (no other information).

Broadfoot's Roster of Confederate Soldiers, which purports to contain a list of all Confederate soldiers contained in the records of the National Archives in Washington, lists E. G. Glover as a Private, Missouri State Guard. It does not reflect that he had in service in a Confederate unit.
