Bob: As a general rule, men known to have served in the 2nd Infantry, 1st Division, are not found to be associated with a particular company. This is because that no muster rolls, either muster in or out, have been found for that regiment except for company D. The regiment disbanded at Camp Blanton, near Clarkton, on January 1, 1862. If Abshear served in the regiment he could have served from June 15, 1861, as the earliest regimental company mustered into service on that date at Bloomfield. I think you will find the dates for company organization in Sterling Price's Lieutenants.
