Re: 5th Cavalry MSM (old), Mark Wilson Company F

To Bruce, My great grandfather was Mark Wilson in the 5th Regiment MO. State Milita Cavalry Co. F He was a scout for the Union Army and while out looking for Quantrill - he was captured by Quantrill's group. He did manage to escape but lost his horse and everything he owned. It happened On Sept 6th 1862 when Quantrill had 140 men with him and they camped near the Kansas line before heading across the border to Olathe Kansas. A description of what happened in Olathe is in the book Quantrill's War.
Also listed in Company F with my Mark Wilson where:
Henry Wilson, James Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Silas Wilson, Zachariah Wilson, Andrew Wilson, and Caleb Wilson
I beleive they were cousins of Mark Wilson.
Family stories say that Mark knew Jesse James.
