I am new at this research and I'm looking for any and all help on finding infomation about one of my ancestors.

Death place: Prisoner of War Camp, Fayetteville, AR
Death date: Bef. 1870
Parents: William and Sarah E. Hood
Married: Clarissa Matelda Jones

Birth place: Caldwell County, KY
Death place: Unknown
Death date: 06 Mar 1910
Marriage date: 31 Aug 1849
Location: Lawrence County, MO
Parents: Thomas and Mary (Dillingham) Jones

The 1850 Federal census shows William in Greene County, MO.
The 1860 Federal census shows William in Lawrence County, Turnback Township, MO

William fought in Texas during the Civil War, was captured and taken to a prisoner of war camp in Fayetteville, Arkansas where he died prior to 1870.

I'm trying to find out which unit he was in, which side he was on, when he died, from what, where he is buried and any and all infomation I can but, I don't know where to start. So, if you can help me or have any information on my William Jones Hood, please contact me.
