Thanks, I'll check out your reference. I've always wanted to learn more about the EMM. My family were all strong union supporters, my G-Grandfather's Brother, John Allen Brents, was a Major in the 1st KY Cavalry and wrote an interesting book on his experiences. When I read about most of the EMM soldiers having to "prove" their loyalty, I sincerly doubted my G-Grandfather needed to do so...but there is virtually NO family history anywhere about him, so I have no idea what he was like.
