Thanks again, Don!

We recently received an original copy of my gggrandfather Duncan's Oath. It was found, with a couple of old CW era family letters, by a boy in the 1930's, whose family bought our old family place. He held on to them until recently when he contacted a cousin of mine to get them back to the family.

It's a fairly normal Oath, with no specific details about why he had to sign. On the back, it is marked that he violated his oath and bond, dated nine months after the oath. When I did a search of the provost Marshall's papers, and found that he had an oath on file dated the same date as the Oath... Which tells me he was caught a second time. - Don't know that would forfeit his bond $, or not... They may not have been that organized. He may not have gotten it back anyway, dunno.

Here's a link to the searchable PM data base: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/provost/ - Takes about 8 weeks to get a quote. I mailed my check a few days ago so should have my copies sometime soon. I'll let you know if anything new pops up.
