Kirby: In the 1860 census of Stoddard County, MO, James R. Jackson, age 22, occupation: clerk, was living in the household of John J. Jackson in Castor Township. John J. and his wife, Emily gave their birth state as Tennessee, the same as James R. John J. was a farmer. John R. had three younger brothers Isaac, Richard and John F., and they all served togethe in Co A, Preston's MO Cav Bn, thence in Co A, 4th MO Cav Regt. James also had an older sister, Ann, and a younger one, Mary E.

I know nothing of James R. in the post-war period.
