Hugh, this comes as welcome news to me. I have for some years felt those records exist after transcribing a number of CSR's for the confederate regiments fighting in that part of the country. The back up references were the newspapers which recorded when prisoners arrived at St. Louis or from various cities. Of particular note are records of Union prisoners who were executed, but the only record are those found in newspapers or regimental returns, with minimal reference. I have on my schedule for 2010 plans for a trip to the archives for the purpose of finding those documents and other research.
