Bruce... You are on track some, but I am not writing this up. I am assisting another, much more experienced and reputable author with the hope that he will see his way to doing so. As far as Lieutenant John Kelso and the 8th Missouri State Militia Cavalry activities, that is part of the puzzle. Kelso's daughter spoke at length with William E. Connelley, after his death and claimed a relationship that the OR does confirm by noting "William Haycock" scouting for the 8th MSM. In addition Hickok did some police work that involved members of the 8th MSM in 1864.

Hopefully more will come to light.
