The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Missouri County Lines 1861-1865

About 7 years ago you discussed my gg and ggg uncle, Col. Andrew G. Nugent. Bryce Benedict had written about his Civil War activity. It was interesting to read. The piece ended with "I don't know what happened to Reverend Nugent thereafter." I do know Col. Nugent lived a long life--out living his first wife and remarrying. My paternal grandmother recalls his visiting in her home. This was in Deepwater, MO. Before this, Nugent freed his 6 slaves and became an Abolitionist. My maternal g grandmother's husband, George Stumbaugh was in the Missouri Guard around that time and was shot and killed by a "Bushwacker"as his horse jumped the fence on his property. Nugent was the minister and had married Jane and George Stumbaugh.
