Yes, I recall our discussing your ancestor, Lieutenant Colonel Nugent of the Cass County Home Guards (Union) and the 2nd Battalion Cavalry MSM ("Nugent's Indians"). Thank you for telling us the rest of the story.

The west-central Missouri Confederates, and especially the guerrillas, found Nugent's men such a threat that they put special emphasis on killing them. That is why many of his men moved their families to Kansas (particulalry during the war) and finished the war serving in Kansas units.
