August Dolle

What is known about the Lynching of August Dolle,by Federal Militia at St Clair, Mo. (Franklin County) during the summer of 1863 ? As a noted guerrila, He was captured near Rolla, Mo. after his horse fell when he was being pursued by Federal Cavalry. Enroute to St Louis as a prisoner, he was taken from the train at St Clair and lynched by members of the local militia, mutilating his body and refusing to disclose what was done with his corpse. Several members of the Militia were later indicted and imprisoned in St Louis for trial but later released due to Political manipulations. I am curious as to the fate of his wife and child . He had been a farmer in northwestern Franklin County, Mo. and on being burned out due to his support for the Confederate cause, he took to the brush for his revenge.
