According to Joanne Eiken & Donald Hale's book, "Branded As Rebels" page 168 James W. Goodlowe (different spelling): "His dairy farm was located 12 miles southeast of Independence on the woods Chapel Road. The yard of this farm was the scene of the inception of the Lawrence, Kansas raid. A number of men under Quantrill met in the darkness of the night and planned the details for the August 1863 raid."
