Adam R. Howard

I am looking for any information on Adam R. Howards Confederate service.I have been told that he served for the Confederacy early in the war, perhaps in the Mo. State Guard. I have family record that he was absent from his home and family in Confederate service from 1961 to early 1963 at which time he returned home in very poor health but was conscripted when Prices raid came through Franklin County, Mo. in October,1864,returning home again in early Dec.1864
after Price had been driven from the state following his defeat at Westport. On Dec. 24 th,1864 he was arrested by the Federal Militia and sent to the Gratiot Street Prison at St Louis, Mo. and in February, 1865 sent up the river to the Alton Military prison at Alton, Illinois where he remained until the end of the war being released on May 10 th,1865 after signing the Loyalty oath. He made his way home in near collapsed condition due to starvation and Ill treatment passing away in 1872 having never regained his health. Any information any one might be able to provide would be much appreciated
