Thanks Kirby that is a great account of what it was like to be captured by the CSA during Prices invasion. They were lucky they weren't all executed since per Gen Halleck and Blunts previous orders all bushwackers were to be shot on sight. I know those orders didn't apply to say captured CSA calvery such has Shelpys and Marmadukes commands but perhaps "stuff happaned when they were captured. We had a previous post about CSA recruits that were captured by the Union being shot out of hand during prices invasion so Mr. Martin was indeed lucky to get paroled even if his accomodations were less then first class.
