I re-read what I sent before and forgot something. For many years the authority on the history of the riverboats was the St. Louis Mercantile Library, which until just a few years ago was in a beautiful building in downtown St. Louis near the Federal Reserve Bank. Then, the St. Louis Mercantile Library moved to the University of Missouri in St. Louis campus in Normandy, north St. Louis County. It is now located in a huge complex in the lower floor of the university library there. I have been to this library in both locations, and their holdings are impressive. I was not researching the riverboats then, so I did not look much at that material, but I was impressed just the same.
