There is no single comprehensive source. As you are probably aware, the 11th MSM Cavalry was integrated into the 2nd MSM Cavalry early in the war. Two first-person works of the period have relatively extensive references to the units--"With Porter in North Missouri," which makes references to the early activities; and "The Autobiography of Samuel S. Hildebrand," which makes references to later activities. Regarding the Hildebrand memoir, you'll need to consult with the 2005 version annotated by myself and published by the University of Arkansas Press. The original 1869 version is a lot more sparse on the subject than the annotated version.

Also consult "The Official Records of the War of the Rebellion." If you are not familiar with this work, then you would do well to learn about it. Go to the main index to the work, and look up the two units in question. Also, another avenue to follow in the use of this work is to look into the O.R. index for the names of key personnel of the units since sometimes the dispatches found in the work reference names while not referencing the units.

Also consult Bruce Nichols' multi-volume work "Guerrilla Warfare in Civil War Missouri"; as well as county and regional histories published in the late 1800s and early 1900s--including, especially, "The History of Marion County, Missouri,"; but also --- "The History of Northeast Missouri"; "The History of Southeast Missouri" (two unrelated versions: one by Douglass, the other by Goodspeed); "The History of Lewis, Clark, Knox and Scotland Counties, Missouri"; "The History of Pike County, Missouri"; "The History of Boone County, Missouri"; "The History of Shelby and Monroe Counties, Missouri"; "History of Audrain County, Missouri"; "General History of Macon County, Missouri"; "History of Chariton and Howard Counties, Missouri" (1883); "History of Chariton County, Missouri" 1896.

In some of the histories you will have to go through with a fine tooth comb to find bits and pieces; others will have entire sections.
