This explains my puzzle. The soldier's record stated he died at the field hospital at Stugeon, but I came across burial records that he was actually interred at Macon. (and after the war, relocated to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery). I guess the folks making out the records saw that he was in the hospital at Sturgeon and died a few days later and assumed he died there.
