Re: Death List/32nd Enrolled Missouri Militia

You guys are hitting close to home. My namesake was John Benjamin Jamison b 20 Feb 1831 Indiana, moving with family to Bollinger Co.

See notes from my father:

The Bollinger Connection recites that Flora Ann Jamison was the daughter of John Benjamin Jamison and Rhoda O'Neall of Greene County, Indiana, who are buried in the Balch Cemetery near Dongola and Zalma, MO.

The Estate of John B. Jamison was administered in the Probate Court of Bollinger Co, MO, by Rhoda O'Neall Jamison, surviving spouse. Bond approved, Vol. 6, p. 491. First Annual Settlement filed August term, 1885 (Vol. 7, p. 10), indicating value of personal property shown on inventory as $290.25, with widow taking $290.25 for her allowances. Final Settlement continued, Vol. 7, p. 186. I found no further entries.

In the Balch Cemetery, near Zalma, Missouri, there is a burial plot enclosed in concrete curbing, which has the Jamison graves in it. There are some stones which I could not read. In addition to the Jamison graves, in the same plot, there are three graves with a stone marked McJamison. Mr. McJamison is indicated as having been born July 24, 1865, died March 18, 1889. Grace McJamison, born October 13, 1892, died November 3, 1893. Sarah McJamison, born April 1, 1894, died December 22, 1907. I have no knowledge as to whether the family name may originally have been McJamison and our branch dropped the "Mc" at some point, but the proximity of the graves may indicate propinquity.--J.J.R.

Don't know for sure if this is your guy but I do have a list of his siblings which included several sisters Elizabeth, Julia Ann, Rebecca, and Ailcey. Right name right place and right spelling. His son born 14 July 1864 was named Ulysses McClelland Jamison which sounds like he was an unequivical "Union Man".
