Looking for any information on my great great grandfather, Jacob Andrew Forgerson or his father John Depew Forgerson. We were always told he was a Missouri Bushwacker. His wife said that they "took him into custody in March 1863, placing him in prison,releasing him a few months afterward." When they released him ,he placed his wife (who was expecting) of a stage and loaded his mother-in-law and her family in a wagon and drove them to Salem Ill to meet his father.

1. There is a old family story that the Confederate Army took their horses and they went an stole them back. That this was why he was arrested. By march 1863 would there be Confederate troop running prisons or jails in Missouri ?? It think it had to be Federal Troops that arrested him!

2. Im thinking that when they arrested Jacob Forgerson that they were looking for John Depew Forgerson, and this is why he was waiting in a different state.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
