Richardson for the term, "During the war in Missouri," recorded on his company's muster roll "April 1863 Absent Captured by the enemy but not since retd to Company,"his name appears on a Muster Roll of 16 Co. 1 Battalion, Paroled Men,** Jul. & Aug., 1863, at Benton Barracks, Mo., subsequently recorded "Loss - Nov 25, Neoshe, Deserted; Dec. 1863, Gain, Dec 6, 63 Springfield, Mo. from desertion; Aug. 1864 Absent on furlough 25 inst.; Oct 1864 Absent on scout since Oct 19, 64; Dec 1864 - Teamster, no further information [The company was located at Neoshe at this time]

** This organization was formed from paroled prisoners of war for duty compatible with their parole by G. O. No. 72, A. G.
