Robert: I know nothing of the man's background, etc., but he authored a series of articles on the Pea Ridge Campaign that appeared in the St. Louis Republican in the 1880s, as follows:

12/5/1885 - "From Rolla to Springfield"

12/12/1885 - "Curtis's Advance from Springfield"

12/19/1885 - "Curtis' Withdrawal from Cross Hollows"

12/26/1885 - "The Second Day at Pea Ridge"

1/27/1887 - "After Pea Ridge"

I have not read the articles, but they are fairly extensive.
