William Fayel was probably one of the top five Missouri newspapermen in the latter half of the 19th century. Also a very prominent historian. Signed his articles in the Encyclopedia of the History of Missouri with a last name of Fayel, not Fayal. Do your searches under that spelling and you should come up with a good bit of information on him.
