John,

I may have confused things. There was a 2nd LT A Hornbeck in the 3rd Mo MSG (8th Div). I see on-line it says Inf. I don't have my Sterling Price Lt's book with me to double check that info.. I assumed 2 Lt Hornbeck was the same Lt in the 10th Mo Cav CSA.

When looking at reunion records I have seen individuals list different units. I think it is who they were standing or setting with at the reunion. Example of one of Shelby's men put down a MSG unit at one reunion , the next time he was in Elliott's 9th and the next time he was in Shelby's 5th. All correct. If MSG was the topic that year he used that unit. If he was attending the reunion of Odessa, Mo Elliott's home he was one of Elliott's and when he was attending Shelby's reunion in 1885 in Higginsville he was in the 5th. He was in all of these at one time or another.

James may have been in the 3rd Inf MSG and confused things when he went to the 10 Cav CSA and put down 3rd Cav instead of 3rd Inf.

Hope I haven't muddied the water too much.
