My 3rd Great Grandfather, John Lafayette Milburn, enlisted in Co. H, 8 Missouri S.M. Cavalry (Union). I'd like to find information on John Milburn, the 8th MO, S.M. Cavalry in general and Co. H, specifically. I'd also appreciation information on how the S.M. Cavalry was used in the War. Did they operate only in Missouri, or were they ever attached to other units in larger campaigns?
