Look up the "Veterans Reserve Corps", or VRC. The Invalid corps, or VRC was organized in two "battalions", one where the soldier was able to withstand light duty, but not field duty, and the other where the soldier is to get better. Many were stationed at Benton Barracks. Also look up his name in the Missouri secretary of state web page, and get the service record.
