Being a Doctor he would most likely have been in a neutral yet valuable position to both parties. Hart still was under the districts chief of scouts or what we would describe as G2 in today's parlance. Did he leave any accounts of his service? I haven't checked all of the string yet, but that is a natural inquiry on my part. If he knew Major Pickler he would have known many of the bands leaders operating in SW Missouri.
